Education: LLB/LLM from a recognized university.

Experience: -2-7 years of experience in corporate legal/compliance, preferably in the CGD, oil & gas or energy sector.

Job Overview:

Responsible for ensuring legal compliance, handling regulatory matters, drafting and reviewing contracts and providing legal support for the company’s operations in the City Gas Distribution (CGD) industry. The role involves working closely with internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities and external legal counsel to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Management & Documentation:

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements and MoUs related to gas supply, transportation, joint ventures, and service providers.
  • Ensure contractual compliance and risk mitigation in business dealings.
  • Maintain a repository of legal documents and ensure proper record-keeping.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution:

  • Manage litigation matters related to land acquisition, consumer disputes, regulatory compliance and contractual disagreements.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel for handling disputes before courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in drafting legal notices, replies and petitions.

Liaison & Coordination:

  • Work with internal departments (Operations, Finance, HR, etc.) to ensure legal compliance in company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in legal due diligence for projects, mergers and acquisitions.

Risk Assessment & Mitigation:

  • Identify legal risks and recommend preventive measures to minimize exposure.
  • Conduct internal legal audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement compliance training programs for employees.
